Migration guide

Migrate from 17hats to FIRMA

17hats handles CRM and invoicing but has no chart of accounts, no double-entry bookkeeping, and no tax-ready P&L. Growing operators need real books.

Why operators leave 17hats

No chart of accounts

17hats tracks invoices and payments but has no double-entry ledger. There is no P&L, no balance sheet, and no tax-ready financial report.

Not a replacement for real books

Growing operators discover at tax time that 17hats data does not satisfy their CPA. They need real accounting software alongside it.

No multi-entity support

If you run more than one business, 17hats has no way to consolidate revenue or expenses across entities.

Revenue reporting is invoice-only

17hats reports show invoiced amounts, not actual cash received or accrued revenue. This does not meet GAAP or cash-basis accounting standards.

How to migrate from 17hats to FIRMA

  1. 1

Account Settings → Export Data CSV

Log into 17hats. Go to Account Settings → Export Data and download your CSV export. This includes your client list, invoice history, and project records.

  2. 2

Extract invoice history and client list

Open the CSV export and identify the invoice history and client contact sheets. These are the two datasets that carry over into FIRMA.

  3. 3

Build COA in FIRMA from scratch (17hats has none)

17hats has no chart of accounts or double-entry ledger. You will build your COA in FIRMA under Settings → Chart of Accounts. Use standard categories: Revenue, COGS, Operating Expenses, Assets, Liabilities.

  4. 4

    Import transaction history

In FIRMA, go to Settings → Import Data. Upload your invoice history CSV. Map the 17hats payment fields to FIRMA income categories. FIRMA validates each row before posting.

  5. 5

    Connect bank accounts

Go to Connections → Bank Accounts and connect your business checking and credit card accounts. FIRMA pulls transactions automatically and matches them to your imported history.
