Migration guide
Migrate from HoneyBook to FIRMA
HoneyBook is a client management platform, not an accounting system. It has no chart of accounts, no P&L, and no double-entry bookkeeping. It is not a replacement for real books.

HoneyBook is a CRM, not an accounting system
HoneyBook manages client workflows and collects payments. It has no chart of accounts, no double-entry ledger, and no tax-ready P&L.
No expense tracking
HoneyBook tracks income from clients but has no mechanism for recording business expenses. Your true profitability is invisible.
No balance sheet
Without a real accounting system, you have no balance sheet, no equity tracking, and no way to measure net worth of your business over time.
Tax prep requires a separate tool anyway
Every HoneyBook user running a real business eventually needs accounting software for tax prep. FIRMA eliminates the duplicate workflow.
How to import HoneyBook data into FIRMA
- 1
Reports → Payments CSV
Log into HoneyBook and go to Reports → Payments. Export your full payment history as CSV. This is your primary financial dataset — it contains all income received through HoneyBook.
- 2
Map payments to FIRMA income categories
Open your payments CSV and identify the income types (retainers, final payments, add-ons). Map each to the appropriate FIRMA income category in your COA.
- 3
Build COA in FIRMA
HoneyBook has no chart of accounts. Build yours from scratch in FIRMA under Settings → Chart of Accounts. Use standard categories: Service Revenue, COGS, Operating Expenses, Assets, Liabilities, Owner Equity.
- 4
Import payment history as transactions
In FIRMA, go to Settings → Import Data. Upload your HoneyBook payments CSV. Map columns to FIRMA fields and assign to the correct income accounts. FIRMA validates before posting.
- 5
Connect banks
Go to Connections → Bank Accounts in FIRMA and connect your business checking and credit card accounts. FIRMA pulls all transactions and lets you categorize expenses against your new COA.
What carries over from HoneyBook
| Data type | Status |
|---|---|
| Payment history | Carries over |
| Client list | Carries over |
| HoneyBook pipelines / workflows | Does not carry (keep HoneyBook as your CRM) |
Note: Many operators run HoneyBook for client management and FIRMA for their books. They solve different problems. You do not need to cancel HoneyBook — FIRMA handles the accounting layer.
